The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, introduced in 1963, was designed to meet the demands of professional racing drivers.
An icon eternally joined in name and function to the high‑performance world of motor sport.
One of the characteristics of the Daytona is its chronograph pushers which screw down securely and hermetically against the Oyster case, following the original concept of the Oyster with its screw-down winding crown and case back.
The Cosmograph clearly deserved its place among the Professional watches, a category created by ROLEX 10 years previously, in 1953, with models such as the explorer dedicated to explorers and mountaineers, or the Submariner specially designed for deep-sea diving.
With its state-of-the-art technology, evocative heritage and sporting aura, the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona swiftly became an iconic watch.
Its dial carries in red letters the name “Daytona” – the most famous motor racing circuit in the United States.
Even though any time piece with a chronograph function isn't usually considered as an option for a wedding watch, it is difficult to argue with the prestige and the fashionable appeal of the "DAYTONA".
